Ok, I know this has probably been discussed before, but what are peoples idle and load temps with these cards and at what fan speed?? (and what Catalyst driver version your using).

I'm currently idling at 63c (ish) at 31% fan speed, it's not THAT audible but slowly gets on my nerves.

I drop the fanspeed to 27% (inaudible) using ATITOOL and my idle temps start to rise :(.

I've reseated the cooler using AS5. Surely this should drop the temps abit??.

Also, can people say whether they have a 3 heatpipe or 2 heatpipe cooler. Mines the the 2 pipe version :mad: .

Just to add, I'm using 7.8 Cats

My current idle temp is 54c with fan at 37%, which is odd considering ive recently replaced my old case with a CM stacker 832 with 4 120mm fans blowing over the motherboard/gfx card etc)

Temps have risen with the cat 7.8's for me by ~5-6c. Think I might extend my water loop to include GPU as air cooling just doesnt seem to cut it for some reason (without being very loud).

At 31% idles around 46-48 degrees but as its a bit hot in the room atm ambient case temps have gone up and its idling at 51 degrees.

Well remember it runs at 2d clocks in windows in 3d apps under load when the 3d clocks kick in load temps are around 70 degrees.

Idle:
GPU = 52c, PCB = 42c, Fan Speed = 31% (The fan is inaudible at this speed)
System temp = 33c, CPU (TAT) = 48c

Load:
GPU = 71 Max, Fan cuts in (37% - very noisy) and reduces it to 60(ish). Wash and repeat.

HIS version with 7.8 cats and standard clocks.
(I think its the 2 heat pipe version??)

Seems to be some sort of bug that makes the fan spin slower

For example some people get

31% = 2000RPM = lower idle temp

others get

31% = 1400RPM = higher idle temp

Im not sure whats going on atm. At 31% my fan spins at 1400RPM with an idle of around 60. With older drivers it used to idle at 51c Im not sure what they have done tbh.

My temps:

IDLE

GPU = 47
GPU envrio = 47
MB = 40
CPU = ? (always folding now....)

Load

GPU = 70 Avg - 75MAX
GPU Envrio = 60-65
MB = 50MAX...
CPU = 60MAX

I do hear the fan and as soon as it hits 50C it spins up a bit faster (not too sure how fast as ATI Tool still won't work proper in Vista...)

When it hits 70C it is very audible but still not too bad with sound from the game on...

My 2 cents ;)

Edit: I have a 2900XT btw.... just seen I didn't say :rolleyes:

Idle on mine is 58C with the latest catalyst drivers just installed. Pretty sure it used to be around 53.

I plan on putting another fan blowing air directly in to the graphics card from the side panel but I have to cut the hole first. I planned on two, one being above it, a less important one for the RAM, CPU and NB. I got a hole cutter for an evening and cut the top one first for some reason. Didn't have time for the important bottom one after that tho. Arg!

Thats in Xp on an HIS 2900xt not sure how many heatpipes it has...

In vista my idle temps are even lower, I'd say around 44 degrees.

Load on both Overclocked never goes above 71-72 degrees.

Not happy with mine - 62deg Idle, and reaches a max of 91deg under load. Max overclock on the core is just 800. :mad:

Temps were lower with previous Cat drivers (7.6). Overclock was higher too.

Im reading the temps with ATI GPU tool - ASIC temp via LM64. LM64 local temp is considerably lower.

Mmm - side cover off, and max load temps just 83deg. And thats with the core clocked at 820.

Case has plenty of fans - 2x 92mm front intake fans, 1x 120mm extract fan, and another 120mm fan in the PSU. Somehow, the graphics card isnt getting enough air.

Its an Antec P150. Im thinking of having a pipe ducting air from the front intake fan to the graphics card fan

Hi, I'm idleing at ~59 degrees at 31% fan with Core at 400MHz and Memory at 500MHz with the Core undervolted to 0.950V (from 1.200V normal)

I think I've got the 2 heatpipe version :(

P.s. Can people please post the volts that they're running as my card idles at 70~75 degrees when I don't undervolt it :(
