Ok guys - let's see the highest core and memory that you can get on your cards - it has to be artifact free( I use ati tools) and fully stable.

I get 850 core and:
1261 memory.

Do some of you have a very good chip/memory?

Let's see them!

Hi VortexA1,

Have you try dropping your core and then increasing memory.

I found that when I was running core at 860, I could get only 1216 from my memory, probably due to heat.

Simon

i have to run mem at default else i get vpu recovery errors. can clock mem to 1250 though for benchmarking artifact free but its not stable for games. core sits happily at 860 though trouble free. Should get a little more out of it once an official bios update comes around to fix the 860+ voltage issue.

Really? Both cards hit 1350 without artifact on stock cooling. I just assumed it was normal for the cards to hit that high.

I can get 890 core and 1180 ram with my two cards in Crossfire.
Not really pushed the RA more than that.

The above was with air cooling...
I have just added water blocks so i may well get higher now :)

For info water blocks were really easy... I just used a couple of Zalman Basic VGA blocks which fit really well. These just cover the core and i think is really all thats required cos the ram heat sinks are quite good anyway.

Temps are idle at 33c and max load I see no higher than 55c with the 890 core overclock... Its like having the stock cooler fans on Max all the time, only nice and quiet.

I assume you are on te hacked BIOS? Even with the BIOS I couldn't get more than 870 on the core. Gone back to stock BIOS now until such time as they have completely resolved the voltage issue above 860MHz.

Yes i was stuck at the 861 until i did the bios mod... at 862 the screen would go haywire. No issues for me now... the new bios works a treat.

I usually just loop 3Dmark06 with full AA and full AF at 1920x1200 for an hour or so.

Its not pretty to watch, but certainly stresses the cards.

for some reason the fan on the card will only operate at 0% or 25% or 50% or 75% and 100%
75 and 100 are far too loud, 50 is far too slow, would be nice to run it on 60%, anyone know a way around this?

How are you setting the fan speeds? Have mine at 80% with rivatuner currently.

ati tool, rivatuner wont work with 7.11's with hotfix
if yours is set at 80 then it should be running at 75%, i can set it to any number in ati tool, but it doesnt actually change the fan speed, the program just says it does, test your fan,

step 1 - set it at 50% in rivatuner (should be barely audible)
step 2 - increase in steps of 5% until you hit 70% (you should hear no increase in sound at all)
step 3 - set it at 75% all of a sudden the card should jump from 50% to 75% even though it was previusly set at 70% (you should hear the card over everything else in system)
step 4 - increase in steps of 5% until you hit 95% (you should hear no change in sound from 75% onwards)
step 5 - whack it to 100 then you can hear it fully blow, so the card only runs at 50,75 or 100

have you done the bios mod? this may have solved the problem?

I did the BIOS mod, but at the moment I'm back on stock BIOS.

Secondly, I'm on hotfix drivers and rivatuner works fine.

Thirdly, you don't install the hotfix over 7.11's, you install them on their own.
