The games he mentioned are Capcom ports, they tend to max out quite quickly on high-end rigs IIRC.

Nope just a 5850 but since clock for clock it's 95% of the performance of a 5850 I can't see why the 5870 would behave any differently.

900/1250, unless I can overclock further without bios flash and that crappy AMD overclock tool thats where it stays.

Really hope nvidia release a decent card, I want back.

Why not BIOS flash and MSI afterburner?

Or the new rivatuner (When it comes out) with the afterburner.

no. though they are rated at 1250mhz so that will be safe. The problem is with error correction it's a PITA to find your max.

Just what I was wondering, how to find the max ram o/c easily.

Is there a simple windowed test that shows static fps? So you can keep bumping ram until you start to degrade performance?

Not as far as I know. Crysis or far cry 2 is quicker than vantage/3dmark

OK I found using furmark in bench mode 640x480 8xAA gives me a repeatable measure. I run for 10 seconds and measure the average fps at that tick.

So far a linear increase shown going from 1200->1250->1300 and the same decrease as I go back down to 1200

Argh! now AMD gpu tool says no valid devices found when I try and run it to go above 1300
