Just a note - listening with a set of Goldring DR100s at the moment. It's pretty clear that my amp didn't have the grunt to drive the HD600s to their full potential. Using the Xonar and the Sony amp, these DR100s are answering a few subconcious questions I had about why a few artists didn't sound as good on record as they do live (they do - it's just that I didn't have the equipment to hear it)! Will post a proper impressions thread later. I have a set of DR50s on the way too (don't ask) so we'll see how they do as well.

Yes, but you still only have 2 ears though. So why spend money on 5 tiny little drivers when you could have 2 incredible ones with superior sound quality and still get a good 3D sound effect.
Something I realised very quickly with nice headphones. The foot taps, and slight imperfection of a track, just like at a live performance make it soo much more immersive
Now stop buying soo many headphones, to coin the head-fi phrase, 'Welcome to Head-fi, and sorry about your wallet'
What sort of amp do people with HD 580//600s recommend?
I have a pair of HD 580s that are unamped at the moment yet still sound quite good...but I can tell that they are wanting lots more power. I'm building a CMOY to get the hang of things first, then will be building a Millet Starving Student tube hybrid. Will that be sufficient to drive the HD 580s?

Not really done anything apart from music listening since I last posted. Full time job and uni coursework deadlines have prevented any thorough testing recently.
