I have a fujistu mhv2040AH 40gig notebook drive in my desktop, attached via a 1.8 to 2.5 adaptor. my mainboard is an NF4 LP UT Ultra-D, and a slight problem
windows uses the drive fine in PIO mode when i disable the drive in bios, with no read/write errors. But when I enable it in bios (default is CHS mode), windows bluescreens during boot. I have tried CHS, LBA, Large and Auto access modes, but the only way it works in windows is if i disable it in Bios. Bios and windows both recognise the drive correctly, so I do not think it is a HDD failure. any pointers?

I updated my bios to the latest one on dfi-street, and loaded optimised defaults
now i gotta sort my overclock once again, but at least the drive needn't be binned
