Managed to knock my Icybox over the first day of having it up and running with a 750 WD AAKS. The monitor cable wrapped around the hard drive and pulled it over while I was backing up an old pc before I gave it away. Copied the data over three times just to be safe as it was irreplaceable data like my favourites on firefox and that. It didn't throw any errors while copying across so it should be fine yea? I copied it three times because I wasnt sure and paranoia kicked in lol.
I knew I should have took it off its stand and lay it flat and I knew I shouldn't of been fidgeting while the pc was working but I always forget and away I go. I think I am losing it lol.
Anyway, enough waffling. Main thing is, it still seems to be running fine, but I don't know what danger signs to look out for as I didn't have it up running even 10 minutes before I got clumsy with it. Every other thread I could find on this matter, their HDD either would throw up errors when connected, wouldn't connect at all or wouldn't even boot. So either I am really lucky or i am setting myself up for a big fall a few months down the line when it gives up and I lose all my data. It'll be video files and other backup info on it so it wont be too important if lost, just annoying.
Since it isn't showing any visible or digital signs of damage (I think) yet, what applications would be best for testing this?
I had a few in mind, HDtach, hdtune, speedfan, WDs own diagnostics tools. But I wanted to double check here first in case anyone had a better insight.
It is currently on USB2 and I think it took around an hour to backup 50gigs earlier, speed wise.
Take it easy on me please, i am a birthday boy in an hour. Asking for a new brain or more sense
