Couple of weeks ago my psu blew up. This week I have replaced my psu and upgraded the mobo and cpu as well.

I have ran the system up today, and I receive HDD boot failure, insert system disk to continue.

I have tried restarting and hitting f12 for bios but it just hangs there and I have to reboot.

Due to moving house soon I am unable to find the windows7 disc at the moment.

I'm wondering if I do have the system disk, what happens next, will it try to recover the hdd or try and do a clean install?

Worst case scenario, I can't get it to work, is there a possibility I can recover the data somehow? I have a lot of pictures of family I would love to have back!

Cheers

any other drives in the pc? be sure the hdd/os drive is first boot device in the bios

check sata cables and molex sata power cables

you can try a startup repair if you have the windows dvd disc and boot from it

Bit of a daft question - I assume you have no other drives or USB memory sticks installed that the system could be trying to boot from.

I double and triple checked the power and sata cables.

There is no other HDD's or any other usb devices.

I was unable to enter the bios with F12, it just froze and had to reboot.

The mobo is a second hand unit from a member in the MM, shoild I try removing the battery and resetting it? It may be searching for a different drive? But like I say I'm unable to get knto the bios screen?
