HDD keeps turning off

I can hear one of my hdd's turning on and off. Whenever i access it, i hear it spin up. The power options are all set to never turn off hdd's, so what else can i look at?

Check the power cable going to the HDD and make sure it is not loose at all or connect a different power cable to the drive. Failing that it sounds like the HDD might be on it's way out.

What drive is it? As far as I'm aware certain "green" models will stop spinning the disc after a period of inactivity.
