HDD Powering Options

2.5 inch or 3.5? for a 2.5 inch you could just use an external caddy adapter but that would involve using the data side of things through usb too
 
My case has esata so that's not an issue. It's the power that's the issue. I still have to open the chassis to connect it to PSU. I was wondering if there was something where I could connect it to usb to get power.
 
USB doesn't supply nearly enough power for a 3.5" disk. If you don't want to go down the dock route you can get backplate mounted molex sockets but you'd need to find the right cable to go from there to the drive.
