Hey I have quite a big problem with my old SATA HDD I have removed from my Laptop.

Basically it kept BSOD and Windows kept getting corrupt so I thought new HDD time and try to get the DATA via an external caddy.

I have installed Windows on a brand new HDD and put the old one in a USB caddy to try get the DATA copied over but I'm having no luck :(

It shows up in Disk Management as 3 partitions only the System Reserved shows up in My Computer the main Partition with the Windows install and all my DATA shows 100% free as in no DATA and this is hidden it wont show in My Computer also it mentions it needs formatting to be used.

I don't know what to do next? I really need my work and the HDD is not formatted it should have all my DATA I just cannot get it!!

Please help

This is because its still formatted to the old system and has its master boot record on it, because it was the main hard drive in the old computer if it didn't you could just right click on it and import it, why didn't you back up your data to external drive before removing your hard drive from the laptop?

Thank you for the reply. The Windows install was corrupted and would not let me do anything with the HDD so I couldnt back up. Not important DATA but I would like it back.

Got a programme called icare to try recover some data.
