HDD question. Very quick

E: was out of an old Dell computer so has documents, picutres etc.

C: was out of another old computer which i reformatted so now only OS (XP) is on it.

Not what i want to do is have the C: as the OS HDD and E: as the data HDD.

Atm there is an OS and documents installed on the E:

Ahh i think I've got you. So you're happy with the c: drive, but dont want a copy of windows on the e: drive.
Options are to move data you want to keep onto the c: drive, reformat e:, then move data back.
Or to just highlight and hit delete for the stuff you dont want on the e: drive.
The former is tidier, the latter quicker.

Yea that it JONJ678.

What i am going to do well have done is copied all Document and setting onto external and going to reformat the E:.

How do i format it? This way "my computer" right click on it, then choose "format"?

How will i get it afterwards so work and music will always save onto the E:? Therfore only thing on the C: will be the OS

yes, right click on it, and format.

to move your my documents folder to the E: you should right click on your my documents folder, properties, move and then select the E: drive.

you might need to make a folder called my documents on the E: first and then point to it as above.

why do you want to have so many accounts? do you have other people use your computer? if not, delete all those accounts and just use one....

you can copy /or put files any where you want. if you want to move files from your external, just copy and paste them to your E:

They were examples.

But yes they will be 4 people using this account and they need seprarte profiles. Family PC.

I just went into each account i moved their documents and it seems to be now in E:

Anyway, of gettomg the shared folder E:?

:Dsorry about that typo.

Is there anyway of getting the Shared folder to be allocated onto the E:

or doesnt that really matter?

Paul11 you have a been a real fantastic help, so thanks a lot.

you are welcome....

as for shared folder. are you using this to share over a network ? or just for each user to have access to files?

if for users to have access to files:

i dont think you need bother with shared folder as you can have access to any files on the E: by any user

and if you are using it over a network:

you can share any folders that you wish to be available over the network as a shared folder by right clicking on the folder, sharing and allowing it to be shared.

Yea, i think i will just leave.

Got it all up and running. The parents seemed impressed. Its also a lot quicker loading into windows users and opening documents.

HDD lot more complicated then i thought lol

Thanks again. Sure i will be coming back soon with another problem :)
