HDD -> SSD software?

I would strongly recommend doing a clean install on the SSD. Many of the cloning programs don't handle partition alignment properly but I think the latest version of Acronis does.

Hi, again just install it like any other HD, read your instructions as it might be formated already, when my Os was installed with the latest mobo drivers. l used a utility called SSD Tweak to finish setting up the OS for your SSD, read the info about it before you use it, but its easy to use and l never had any problems with it at all.

how does this 'cloning' work? wouldent the installed programs etc not function properly?

Cloning is just taking the exact image from one disk to another, so as far as the pc is concerned, nothing changed. Lastest Acronis works for me in regards to alignment.

Hi, Windows 7 aligns partitions by default correctly.

Not when cloned from a hard disk to a SSD, maybe read the OP a litte?
