hdd whoe's

one of my 120gb hdd's has just stopped working it now ticks when you switch on the computer, but on the post screen it recognises it, but in the bios it dosnt show any of the details.

is there any way to get it to work again, all i want to do is copy off my files

its a maxtor diamondmax plus 9 ata 133

If it's ticking and not properly recognised in the BIOS then it's pretty much dead.

As above that's the definitive way to tell if an HD is on it's last legs or dead

ticks/clicks signify IMMINENT DOOM! RAWR!

Try poppin it in an airtight bag in the freezer for a bit and if yer lucky you might get a bit of life out of it long enough to copy yer bits n bobs off.
