HDMI or displayport on new monitor?

That screen can support 2560 x 1440 at 60Hz over HDMI, quite a few people have managed it. it can be a little hit and miss though depending on the graphics card i believe. if you've got an HDMI cable, try it when you get the screen. it's possible you will have to create a custom res/refresh in Windows though to set it up. DisplayPort would be simpler and just detect it straight away. that screen comes with a DP > Mini DP cable so if youve got DP output from your graphics card, just use that cable to hook up to the monitor :)

oh right cool.... i have 2x normal sixe DP on the gfx card and i see the monitor comes with a full size and a mini DP so that will be best option. Thanks.

I got this monitor yesterday, its hooked up via DP to mini DP from my 970, working a treat, smashing monitor, hope you enjoy it! :)

I can run 1440p from my gtx 770 no problem over HDMI so you definitely shouldn't have any bother.

Only thing I'd say is go Displayport/miniDP if possible as it can handle more of the colour gamut compared with HDMI - I guess there are a lot of variables here but I have definitely noticed an improved difference between the two when hooking my Macbook up to my 27 inch monitor.
Secondly on that, I have noticed that over displayport both my PC and Macbook can detect when the monitor is off or on so that when the monitor is turned off the projector settings go to default so my mouse doesn't disappear off the side of the screen which is what happens when it's connected via HDMI - a small issue but it certainly helps to not have to physically remove the HDMI cable when it's not being used.

it's possible your graphics card is reverting to limited RGB range when using HDMI if you're noticing a difference in colour range between that and DP. happens quite a lot when the graphics card thinks you're connected to a TV and so limits RGB range. There are ways and means to get around that, depending on your graphics card?

I did not think of that, cheers Baddass! Something to do this evening :)
