Did you remember to take the jumper off the back, i forgot and when i ran hdtach i got a very similar result to yours. Then i removed the jumper and got a much better result. Also, make sure your mobo supports sata 2

Yes my mobo supports sata2, asus a8n-e ultra

Do you guys run the full or long test on HDTach?.......

Keep seeing screenshots, but whats everyone running, quick or long?

i did the long test.

anyway i took off the jumper and this is what I got:

bit nosier, or is that just me?

If you can, disable tagged queueing - makes SATA drives a bit faster in a desktop environment...
