This has been long tracked as a political shift across the West - of course it's a crude cartoon of it, but it's pretty accurate (ie what people considered extreme left wing thoughts in the 1930s is now pretty right wing) - lots of good books covering this about how political parties haven't kept up with the societal shifts.
Indeed most people it's actually more 'up and down' (ie authoritarian to liberal) than left to right these days - hence the former 'liberal left' are so authoritarian in their approach vs the right has become liberal, when it used to be authoritarian.
