Head of the Met's Black Police Association (MBPA) has been dismissed

Sounds like banter in a WhatsApp message between friends.

I dont believe anybody is that pure that they haven't sent/received similar.

But since we live in the age of outrage, I'm glad this clearly racist homophonic bigoted misogynistic Islamophobic person is I support the latest thing hurr durr.

The issue is that the people that participated in this group chat (police officers).are the very same people who would not think twice about arresting you and potentially ruining your life for the exact same thing.

If you believe that police officers should be allowed to break laws whilst being involved in the prosecution of people.for breaking the same laws, then that is kinda weird.

What law did they break?

I dont think anyone should be prosecuted for what is essentially a private conversation, and certainly not for memes.

Me neither, but that’s what happens if you say something that someone takes offence at nowadays. If this is a work related group chat or a chat used on the company’s dime, you can expect HR to have a word.

Potentially - https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/21/section/127

I agree from a standard Member of the Public POV but the police should be held to a higher standard given their position in society. This is a cohort that can remove your liberty and are involved in a system that can imprison you, potentially destroying your life. Should they be allowed to do similar crimes and nothing happens?

If you are unable to meet these restrictions on your personal life to become a police officer then the answer is simple - do not become one.

BTW - I am not looking to change your mind on the matter, as I realise this is a futile endeavour. You have your opinion and I have mine.

On the matter of the inspector in the report... I have to laugh at the sheer hypocrisy of him:

Addressing the media following his dismissal, Mr Ehikioya said: "I believe this outcome was manipulated to ensure a finding against me and is part of a deliberate campaign to smear my reputation.

"The process from the very beginning has been flawed and it is clear to me that this decision is an attempt to silence my voice in the fight against the endemic racism within the [Metropolitan Police Service]."

He allegedly sent an image of the late Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, with the comment "message from the other side, tell the Muslims there's no 72 virgins left".

There was also a series of racist messages about Chinese people, the hearing was told.

He bleats about the endemic racism in the MPS and perpetuates racism himself?

Obviously not in the bottom quartile but police are meant to be a representation of the society they police. If we only had righteous dogooders as coppers you could guarantee the world would be a far worse place.
