Just wondering if i loose quality as so fed up keep changing behind my pc between speakers and headphone and also if i use splitter, will it output speakers and headphone at the same time (i believe will degrade sq)
Thats what I do, although make sure your speakers are turned off when you have your headphones plugged in, I was once listening to loud music on headphones one night, only to then realise its also waking everyone up from my speakers, nice, lol.

I was looking at Belkin splitter as don't really want anything else on my desk and noticed that with Plantronics ones i can actually choose either speaker or headphone not both at the same time, am i right?
edit:
Just notice that for speakers and headset with mic, so will it work for speakers and headphone?
If you have 5.1 etc.. you will get sound from speakers (exept front L/R chanels) as that is what gets diverted to the headphones.
So you will need to turn them off.
Not sure about the Xonar, But i have the Auzentech Prelude and when i select optimize for headphone output all the surround chanels are switched off.
I use the Plantronics one as well and it's excellent. So much easier flicking a switch than having to worry about climbing under my desk to fiddle with wires.
connect green jack to your line out on sound card pink to your mic in on sound card if you use one.
Then connect speakers, headphones & mic to the switch and your sorted.
Simple and effective.
Will this work for me when i use the digital in for my speakers?
My problem is that i have HD595 that go into the analogue port, but the headphone shares the same port as the creative speakers. Will this plantronics switch work for me or do i need another workaround? Purely want to be able to have a microphone plugged in without messing about unplugging speakers at the back.
