Headphones £50-£100

Sennheiser HD25's are awesome closed cans, can be bought for just over £100 if i recall...

Should check out head-fi.org for everything to do with headphones tho ;)

HD555 £60+
HD595 £100+

They need to be closed, but thanks anyway.

Are there any stroes that have a good range in stock you can listen too? Richer srounds today let me try the 595's but didn't have the 280's open to try.

Any other stores do demos?

Will have a look at the 25's thanks, any others? Will check out the other site mentioned also

These, can be had for £126, and am getting some for xmas. Will post a review :D

Denon D2000 if you can stretch a little extra, I got mine for £120 just over a year ago. Nothing will compare in the price range.

HD280's aren't bad, but they certainly don't sound amazing. Only get them if you need lots of isolation, e.g if you travel on planes a lot.

£100 really is the max budget unfortunatley Nothing else in that range anygood?

What are the Sennheiser HD 25-SP II like?

I cant comment on any particular Sennheiser head phones but id like to add that I bought a set of HD-480's when I was about 19 years old and they are still going strong, im now 43 .....i wouldn't buy any other make, there is a reason why companies like the BBC use them in their studio's.

I'm really finding it hard to find anything in the sub £100 area. Just been reading that the HD280's are pretty awfull. Any other suggestions folks?

equation rp21's, look cheap but sound great.

if you are a bass lover then the beyer 770pros.

equations are happy without an amp, the 770pros benefits from an amp.,

AKG K240 Studio Headphones

They are semi open backed but don't leak the sound very much, and they work very well without an amp.

One problem with HD-25's.. the lead is really short!!!
It's steel also! I changed mine out for a HD-650 cable, made from copper. It seems to have improved the sound.

Steel? Not aluminium? i'm dubious it'll make much difference in the sound though.

I'll have a look at getting a longer cable, i haven't used them since i stopped djing and at the moment i'm using a really crap pair for when i'm on my PC.

I will stick with the steel when I get mine.

Although there might be a sonic difference, there is also the major added hassle of having to flip the cups around and have a wires going to each driver and hanging down, compared to the original cable.

I forgot about that... :o

I'm using HD-25 Concordes, which are more similar to HD-25SP's, so for me no cup flipping was needed... :)

Well I caved and have ended up getting the Sennheiser HD25-1 II's

I will probably end up needign a longer lead for them. What are the suggested leads?

Thanks for all your advice btw!
