Headunit Recommendations

Yeah I know that, but I can't really sell it either without the code ;)
Good Point.

I think a Ford garage will give it to you anyway if you provide them with necessary info and documents.

Well its going in for a service this week, so I'll ask them then if I can't find it in the mean time.

I have a Sony one. All the audiophiles cry but I'm probably tone deaf anyway and it makes girls say 'OMG ITS LIKE SORT OF A VIDEO THING'.

So thats quite good.

Fox, your headunti is very strange in that the face is non removable though.

I have known you to remove the entire HU for security which is a bit mad. (Could understand why you did it but to not buy a face-off player is crazy)

Alright unit, not sure if sony have change it but the face don't come off which is a huge design oversight.

No, it doesn't. It has a cover which goes over the top and says 'Hey! Look! I've got a head unit thats too fancy for its own good so I have to stick this over it to convince you ****** there is nothing to steal!'.

Shocked it's not been nicked yet.

But it looks so cool and as we all know, the most important thing about ICE is how the head unit looks.

Have you any idea how many people dont bother taking the face off their units?

More than those who do.

I have one of those Sony units and it sounds fantastic. It's up there with the top of the range Alpines for sound qualty.

Not seen that one before. I've just got hold of a Pioneer DEH-P55BT, and its THE BEST £200 i've ever spent, the bluetooth handsfree alone makes it worth it! Crystal clear sound, and currently controlling my IPOD too :)

Again, recommended. Not used one for any length of time, but this is the way forward. BT compatible to get rid of annoying hands free kits, and overall good sound staging for a decent budget HU

With these BT headunits, what's the situation with the Mic?

Also, not everyone leaves their HU's in the car. I ALWAYS remove mine.

My mic is run from the jack in the back of the headunit, through the dash, then up behind the A-pillar cowelling (sp?), clipped onto the sun-visor.

As for fox's unit, it may look "fancy" but its exactly that IMO that makes a headunit look dire. Simplistic for the win!

I hadn't thought about the mic, is it included? What does it look like?

But that's an out of choice decision, not cause you've been forced to leave it on, I almost got one of those sony units a few years back the screen looked stunning for its time, however I don't think it sounds very good compared to a good hu I went for the most expensive Kenwood at the time since I liked its range of EQ and HP / LP filters sounds very good with the right config.

I do like the look of that sony but having a non removable face is like I said a serious design and security flaw.

The mic is included yes. Its just a small cylinder (comes with a clip that fits almost any sun-visor) about 1.8cm long and about 1cm in diameter. Hardly obtrusive at all, you can see a whole 2 inches of cable between the A-Pillar and the sun-visor!

Cool ok. I'll have to have a play if/when I get it

Cracking sounding unit as well, i've been really impressed with my Avic's sound quality and el's sounds every bit as good, i always rated alpine better than pioneer but i think my mind has changed.
