Healthy eating

Bit of a thread hijack but it’s about eating healthier, sort of.

I like Dolmio bolognaise sauce, but if I didn’t want meat, what kind of vegetables could I use in place of meat?

You could use Jack fruit as lots of vegans use it as a meat substitute, or you could use quorn (neither being a vegetable, I know)

Sugar is the biggest toxin for your body. So premade sauces etc, have a lot of sugar in it - make them yourself. Use herbs and spices to add some flavour to your food.

If you want to snack, eat fruits / nuts. Also if you feel hungry it's often thirst as well, drink water not fruit juices.

Eat high fibre foods with every meal (improves digestion and minimises large spikes of insulin).

Along with good food, exercising a little more is good, just s 30 min walk every day will do it - that with some meditation / mindfulness is a great way of lowering blood pressure.

Omega 3s and food rich in those are good.

Try and follow a "mediterranean" style diet. i.e. oily fish, lean meats, lots of vegetables, pulses, and olive oil.

Avoid dairy or reduce dairy intake, and avoid processed foods as much as possible. You don't have to cut out meat, but think carefully about the meat you do eat.

For bolognese without meat, use lentils - they're amazing and very good for you too (lots of fibre too).
