I've done something very similar quite recently. The only girl that I ever felt was 'the one' and she's now half a world away. :( We shared feelings before, but never acted on them because she had a boyfriend and we didn't want to ruin the friendship. I've never met anyone like her and there hasn't been a single day since we met that I haven't thought about her. I didn't tell her how I felt before she left because I didn't want to ruin her new life but to say I'm gutted is an understatement. I know exactly how you feel. :(
