Heating on yet ?

Heating on all the way!

I dont work as hard as I do, and the hours I do to come home and sit in a cold house.

That would be biting my nose off to spite my face.

Nice and toasty in my house :)

I really don't understand the attitude the majority seem to have. Does it give you man points waiting until you're uncomfortably cold before turning the heating on, or is it just about saving money?

I have the heating on all year round set to keep the house at a comfortable temperature. I really don't care what the date is, I still want the house to be a nice, comfortable environment. As I mostly work from home, It's set to keep warm all day every day too, just dropping a bit at night to be more comfortable for sleeping.

Yep. Not that I really need to, but I'd rather pay as little to the robbing scumbag energy companies as possible. Plus I sleep better when it's cold.

Maybe not having central heating in the places I lived in as a young child made me a bit more resilient anyhow so I don't feel the need for the house to be like a sauna. :p

Our boiler/radiators are kaput at the moment so it's not a choice regardless. Being able to let the chappy at the radiators involves a lot of furniture moving so it's a pain and we just haven't bothered getting them done!

All about the man points for me. Well, that and the fact that it hasn't yet reached the point at home that i'm cold enough to have to do anything other than put on a pair of socks, sometimes, even with the heating off. Once it gets to the point that i'm not going to be warm unless i'm putting on layers, then the heating comes on. Though I normally then have it set to 23 or 24.

We usually layer up before putting the heating on, but if snow appears and temp lower dramatically then its going on. Usually if i feel cold with my layers then its surely time to put the heating on.

I'm considering a morning warm blast. It was cold getting out of the shower.
Moaning is increasing exponentially to temperature drop!

I came home about quarter to 12 last night and the heating was on full blast with everyone in bed. The heat was unbearable! So I turned it off.

We live in a relatively new build, it's about 14 years old so it stays fairly warm. But for some reason my family would rather whack the heating up hi and sit around in pj bottoms and t shirts than just put a jumper on and leave the heating off. What's with these people?

When I was at uni I think we held out until late November one year, we all just made sure we were fully clothed the whole time.

Down to 14degrees in my place now in the evenings. The coldness is due to metal window frames which transmits the cold from the outside to inside. I cant remember what temp it is advisable to turn heating on to prevent condensation build up. I do have a window cracked open upstairs and downstairs which doesn't help but a bit of fresh air is good. I just put a thicker jumper on, don't really notice it then. Things might change when the g/f is back from Borneo though as she is used to tropical temps! For now though heating stays off :D

Still in shorts here but the increasing dampness is starting to make it feel a bit chilly. Starting to think about testing the heating but it will be a while before it is necessary to actually have it on as a matter of course.

Has been on for a couple of weeks.

I don't get the point of ever turning it 'off'. It's on a timer, so only runs during the day and not overnight. It has a thermostat, which 99.9% of the time is turned to 21C. So why would it ever need to be turned 'off'? During summer when it's nice and warm, the thermostat will detect the temperature, realise its' above the set point, so not turn the heating on. Never needs to be fiddled with!

I typed a really bitchy response asking why you wasted energy heating your house whilst you're asleep.

Then I did something really unusual... read the post I was replying to carefully :p

Does anyone here commit the cardinal sin of heating their houses while they're asleep? I bet someone does :p

I can't bring myself to waste a single penny on heating during the summer no matter how low the temperature drops. It goes off and it stays off.
