Heavy landing in Airbus A320

Had plenty of hard landings. I find them fun.

However Clear Air Turbulence puts the fear of God in me. I never want to experience that again... :(

Tell me, as I posted above, coming into Verona, it was a clear sunny day with what felt like 300ft drops and then shifting sideways. It was like an invisible giant was shaking the plane

It was definately shorter, was fierce braking and reverse thrust and we only just slowed down enough, landing back at LGW we had loads of runway left.. :)
Not necessarily he/she may have slightly overshot the runway by floating a bit far meaning a heavier stop once the wheels were down. This would make it feel an awful lot shorter.

A similar landing was at Puerto Plata, Dom Rep in the Caribbean. We turned to final what I perceived to be a bit too close for comfort. Once we landed the reverse thrust must have been 100% because I was pinned to the seat belt like never before. Once we cleared the runway I had a good look out the window and there was precious little runway left.

Cool then you was well under MTOW because the A330-200 needs in excess of about 7200 feet. Still quite impressive they land a holiday flight with a A330 on 5200 feet of runway. :)

Where I work its about 6500 feet and they can't/wont fly a passenger loaded A330 out.

When we left LGW we used all of the runway, but it had a full tank of gas, and after 10 hours of flight I imagine it was nearing empty so a lot lighter, but how did he take off when everyone has bought rum and cigars :D

I've no idea to be honest unless they just accelerated more slowly from Gatwick to save the engine but it's unlikely.

If he can get out of Cuba loaded on 5200 feet of runway with a lower air density then they certainly didnt need to use even 2/3rds of Gatwick.

5200 does seem very short. You have put me off that holiday destination ;) Not much room for error there:D
