Heinz - awful products

Crappy cocktail sausages! It's physically impossible not to like those and I guarantee you'd get a higher pork content from your mum on a Friday night down the docks.

The only thing worse than fish, is canned fish. Get away with your fish!

It’s chicken or beef right!

You are destroying this thread which has taken years to create.

Feek is away on the Gin over the head of this and Rob is breaking out the radioactive gravy. Enough! :D

Nothing wrong with those little mackerel tins in tomato sauce or just oil. They are cheap and great for many dishes, very nice!

Heinz Tomato Ketchup for me too… Although only when on offer otherwise some of the cheaper alternatives will do.

Nothing beats the Burger Van/Take Away cheap ketchup though IMO.

As for Soups - I avoid Heinz as generally naff considering the price, Aldi’s “Chunky” soups are nice or even Marks & Spencer’s tend to Aldi Price Match the majority of their soups which I often pick up when I’m there.

Beans has to be Branston as the sauce is thicker and more flavourful - Heinz was a watery tasteless mess if I recall correctly but it has been years since I gave them a go.

In Asda last week I noticed Heinz realeased a range of pasta sauces which appear similar to the Loyd Grossman range. I tried Tomato and Chilli and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavour.

Bit of thread bump, but I searched the forums for Heinz first and this was the most recent thread I found.

I've completely gone off Heinz now, all their sauces seem to watered down. Beans, spaghetti hoops, tomato ketchup - they are all visibly watered down now. :(

What really got me, was whenever I wanted to use a bottle of tomato ketchup, I had to squeeze the little bit of water/juice out which seems to gather at the bottom of the bottom when stood. I've changed to Daddies ketchup which I prefer the taste of and I've yet to get that annoying squirt of juice each time I want to use the bottle.

Know what you mean about the squirt of juice, I find you just need to shake it, then its ok.

300g of sugar and a bitta MSG will have that effect :D I am officially boycotting Heinz products now. If we all do, then they have to reduce the prices!

Maybe the salt and sugar at the same time lol

Went to tesco express tonight to get some Heinz ketchup for me chips - £4.50
Suffice to say my chips went bare

If you must have Heinz then try the discount stores such as Farmfoods or Heron Foods for offers.

Or be brave and try some supermarket own brand stuff. I would say this isn't bad: https://groceries.asda.com/product/...o-ketchup-50-reduced-sugar-salt/1000210049147

75p for 530 grams made with 249g of tomatoes per 100g of Ketchup, which looks to be a higher proportion of tomatoes than Heinz use in their much more expensive product.

I used to think that but wondered why ketchup tasted different (and better) when on holidays… It’s because Heinz is loaded with salt and sugar.

Then they have the cheek to put prices through the roof when folk are already struggling with cost of living etc Greed… nothing more than that.

Sainsbury's own brand ketchup is beaut. Doesn’t come out of the bottle as smooth, but tastes far better imo. Considerably cheaper also :)

Marketing does work and a lot of people do effectively taste with their eyes. Get some blind tasting going and then once they have got used to ketchup that actually tastes of tomato, see whether they would still pick out Heinz as having the best flavour.
