Heinz Tomato Ketchup... is it just me?

I don't know about all of you lot, but the last few squeezy bottles of Heinz I bought I swear they have watered down.

I remember ketchup used to be of a moderately thick consistency and now its runny as hell. But only with Heinz, the other brands haven't changed.

Am I the only one who noticed? Or am I just the only person pedantic enough to make a thread about it?

Still, I don't like my ketchup to be messed with, what are Heinz playing at?

It's the vinegar (if you read the ingredients you would have seen this...), hence why most people shake the bottle before squeezing.

No it isn't. I ALWAYS shake the bottle before squeezing, always have done.

I know what you mean actually now thinking about it. I remember before all the squeezy bottles were mainstream, when you eventually got the sauce out the bottle it would stay in peaks on the plate, rather than sloppy mess soaking all your chips lol.

I noticed this last week when opening a new squeezy bottle, it was very watery, they must have changed the reciepe

Wash out a squeezy bottle, buy a glass one and pour it in? You'll have the thick classic sauce in a squeezy bottle then.

Yes, mine hasn't been as thick as usual as well. When you leave it upside down, now no sauce sticks to the walls for any length of time.

Nah, it just seems thicker in a glass bottle than it does in a squeeze bottle becasue it's thixotropic. That means that, in essence, its viscosity varies as a function of time under stress. Look it up, it's interesting chemistry and materials science.

I've noticed this too! When you squirt it on the plate it also spreads out quite a bit (probably due to the sheer power of the nozzle!)
