I did for a while, when Team17 took it over and their first few updates didn’t fix the issues the community were crying out for to be fixed I lost steam with it.

It was basically a part time job with trying to get new members, organising clan matches, and at one point was costing me £150 a month for the server, website and various other costs.

No one else really wanted to take on any on the responsibilities, so in the end I essentially closed it down as more and more people stopped playing the game.

Don’t think I’ll have the chance to be on till next week, but will get you added!

It’s defensive squads that are always lacking, and unless they’ve changed how the game works, all it takes is one organised squad to flank a disorganised team and the game is effectively over.

Defending with a squad or two has been the most fun I’ve had in the game though!
 
I tried jumping in this evening as a refresher and set things up.
Howeverr, I wasn't able to star tthe game, and I was getting the error : "Another instance of the game is already running"

I've tried all the fixes I can find online, but no luck so far.
 
The whole thing seems strange. I don't even know if a reinstall would even fix the issue. It's definitely tied to something on your computer though. Maybe try loading Windows in safe mode with networking, and see if you can get on that way? Try disable any anti-virus program you have?
 
thanks @Spacedeck, I agree it is very odd.
It's so frustrating the amount of time I can lose trying to resolve the issue. I will keep trying things as and when I get chance.

It's pretty much a clean install of Win11 (just bought a 9800x3d), and no anti-virus etc yet.


edit: Solved
My Varjo VR software was starting with Windows - it defaults to that when you install it.
As per this Reddit post, Varjo software somehow interferes with it.

Played a couple of hours last night, and had a blast.
With the weather the way it is, I’m likely to be around today if anyone wants to squad up.
 
Started to play this again on and off. Joined a clan KSK, but can't seem to find the time for their games as I have kids and if the wife is at work (she works nights) I have to keep an eye/ear out for them as they sometimes keep coming downstairs when trying to settle for bed. That makes it hard to get a proper game in.

Popped into a few pubs and not many are chatting over comms to organise squads I keep joining. I dont know how to play SL as I have never done it, so I stick to Infantry, which I quite like.
 
Might have to get back on this during the winter. Although still haven't completed BG3!

God knows how many hours I've played but used to be in a clan and played pretty regularly along with professional games/leagues etc. OH doesn't work shifts anymore though!
 
Myself and 4 of my friends are some of the new players thanks to it being free on Epic.

We’ve had an absolute blast past couple nights playing this. We made our allocated SL read up the wiki/watch some guides and then just started playing.

Other Officers/ Commander had been really helpful in guiding our little noob unit and it was such a positive environment. I kept asking questions over text chat and people were quick to help. The server browser also reminds me of online gaming from back in the day.

Most fun we have had in a FPS game in about a decade.
 
I play this game all the time, it's an incredibly fun game. Quite surprised they've given away such a great game for free. Makes it a massive headache for us veteran players for the next few weeks/months with such a huge influx of newbies but it's also nice seeing full server after full server.

There is so much to learn when you're new. Worth it though.

ha haa, I'm more htan happy for them to learn the SL role... so few people want to do it.:)

I quite like SL if the squad wants to work together, but by god I can't be bothered when it turns into herding cats as everyone's gone lone wolf, or when you get someone who wants to be take the assault role and backseat SL at the same time :(


Does anyone else play early evening (6-8ish) weekdays once or twice a week and want to team up?

Get in a truck, and some guy on our team team kills me, my mate in the truck and two guys outside.

Yeah being SL often feels like being a project manager sometimes. I just want to have fun, not work.

Weird, I presume that was a manual kick/ban as I'm not aware of an auto-kick for punishing a TK. Doesn't sound like a good server.
