Was singing along with my daughter so there's a pitch/registry thing going on (it's very hard to mic directionally using a condenser mic)

I'm certain soundcloud downmix or apply some kind of compression before you hear what you're supposed to hear but there we are ~shrug~

It's going to be a 6 minute song and I take your point but it's a 14x6.5' Ludwig Supraphonic with some OH, low wet in the mix, so that's kind of the point

Drums could do with more compression i reckon. They sound overly loud and harsh.

I like the start of the track though (the ethereal string bit)

I was going for a Motown thing (see snare reference above) but I don't think it's working for anyone but me. I went light on the kick. What do you think?

Well I listened to one of your songs, and you're singing like a black guy from the 70s...is that you singing?? And just so I don't loook utterly racist, you can normally tell whether a singer is black or not - black people often have a dramatically different tone.

Good effort, love the intro on Anatomy v1, but "Keep The Lights On v2" is i'm sure unintentional yet blatant mimic of verse from "Somewhere Only We Know" by Kean. Try it - tudum tudum, base line, "I walked across an empty land, I knew the path like the back of my hand", once you hear it, you can't unhear it.

A small tip - don't "master at zero" - don't let you mix go all the way to 0dB at any point, keep it at -1dB peak. Not just because of the whole "wall of sound" malarky, but the main reason is that lossy encoding methods on youtubes, soundclouds, vimeos etc are not precise enough to cope with fractal subtleties of something mixed this close to clipping - in effect the encoding will clip it and will clip it bad. Record is at -1dB, then export it as high quality and bitrate as submission spec allows adjusting peak volume to -0.3dB and submit that to online services.
