Yeah, theres 6 slots, 5 of them are "open" due to trying each slot with each of the 3 sticks. but the one closest to the CPU (with the ram in) is locked shut.
Surely them being open or closed when nothing is inside isn't an issue?
Help appreciated if you can.

try your ram sticks in slots 2/4/6 slots,not 1/3/5

this i think will be the psu or ram.do you get any beeps at all with the ram in different configurations?can you try a different psu
Ah, can see it now , told you my eyes were bad lol. Thought the blue socket was a DIMM.
You tried pressing the MEMOK button? or made sure nothings holding that down.

ah i see the asus has black and blue slots.try them in the blue slots

Aye, I think we are talking about the same ones, I was meaning the blue ones on this ASUS board (which are equivalent to the white ones on the gigabyte).
I aint pressed it as well I don't like touching things I don't know. cooking some pasta at the moment (been working on this PC since 1pm) will repiece it togeher in the opposite slots and try the button also.
I let you know if theres any changes in a bit.

I owe you guys a drink for helping me this evening, sticking the memory in all blue slots (opposite to what the manual says) and hitting the MemoryOk button did it. Failed to instal the driver for the graphics card on first go, but it seems to be running okay currently.
Think I leave it out as it is currently, then put it in the case again tomorrow and see if it's okay under stress.
