Hi, i currently have a Coolermaster 850w Silent Pro, as soon i installed a Gigabyte 980ti G1 Gaming Card, i started getting Coil Whining , i checked and its coming from the PSU, so looking to change to a different PSU which wont give Coil whine, and looking to go with a 1000W as it seems a nice number,

seems high spec enough

Thanks

Thanks, im looking to get a 1000w seems a nice number, and be very quite, i can get the HXi Series HX1000i for a really good price, going through a few reviews its one of the quietest , not much higher then the one you posted, if i get coil whine i will RMA it

Be aware that if you buy Corsair it will be built by a third party, they previously used Flextronics/Seasonic, a lot of the Flextronics units were problematic, I'm on my 2nd AX1200i (Flextronics) due to first one failing. Not sure who builds Corsair units these days but it might be worth finding out before taking the plunge.

Personally I'd go with a Superflower or Evga unit. If you're set on 1000 watts then this or this. For one 980ti though a quality 850w will suffice so this or this would be my first choices, also the Evga's have custom braided cable sets available here

Most Corsair units are overpriced atm, and yes the RMi is a great PSU but for cheaper you can do better

The above units are good shouts

Even 550w is loads more than a 980Ti will ever need. 1000w is just wasting money. Have a read of this and then buy this while it's on offer. It's still overkill but that's a cracking price for a top quality Platinum rated unit with a 10 year warranty.

We had a thread about 6-8 weeks ago wehere he had coil whine when he boaught a GTX 970 (if I remember right). We recommended he get the Superflower Leadex Platinum 550w as it was on special offer at the time and he reported back that his coil whine had dissappeared.

it needs to be silent as well, thats why reading review of the Corsair HX1000i 1000W its one of the quietest out there and can get it same price as the RMI, its not much extra to the one you linked to

i guess if i still get coil one i can return it , my coolermaster 850w provides 80amps on rail , but i guess it is 5 years old ,

Super Flower or EVGA, Leadex or G2/P2, 5 year or 10 year warranty respectively.

1kW leaves the slot open for SLI in the future and with a platinum unit it's still very efficient when not using 700+W

It may be quiet, but P2 1000W has eco mode also, is very quiet with this and is likely cheaper than HXi, as well as having a longer warranty and being better built (though HXi is excellent, but overpriced like most-all corsair units)

If you can get the HXi the same price as the RMi, then HXi would be my choice.

Just not sure why you're going for 1000 watts when you're only running one card.

I ran a single TX on a 460W fanless PSU. Granted I'm running a 3770S, which has a modestly lower TDP than your 6700K (before any overclocking).

so i got the Corsair HX1000i and i sget coil whine from this PSU also :( , its getting annoying, although it is lower then the coolermaster 850w , but as i built a pc to be silent its annoying and should i have to leave with this ? if paying for such high end ?

is there any PSU immune to this and what is return policy with coil whining on PSU

Thanks
