Thanks to dropping my PC :(
Think the weight of the Zalman cooler has damaged the chip / mobo..
So...
I'm in the need of a fair few new components.
Think I've decided on

Mobo : Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi X16 (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-118-AS)

Chip : AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 90nm (Socket 939) - OEM (CP-150-AM)

Now onto graphics.... The 7600 fits my budget, but which one?
My main want is Reliability, followed by quietness.

Which one do you reckon I should choose?

Cheers
James

The leadtek has the best price, and should perform the same as other brands running at the same clocks.

They are all probably based on the referance design, so will all be the same, apart from pics on the coolers, and what software/warranty you get, so id just go for the cheapest. :)

the 7600 is on par with an x1800xl there is nothing wrong with it

The 7600GT is a fair bit slower than an X1800XL (& 7800GT).
It sits firmly in between the PCIE 6800GS & 7800GT in the reviews i have seen.

Having got that straight, the 7600GT is not a bad card for the money, but its 128 bit interface lets it down.

In the reviews I have read it comes close at stock to the x1800xl.

Also the 7600 is a fantastic overclocker too like all the 7900 series cards in recent reports.

from review:

"The 7600GT is a very overclockable card, even with just the default cooler and no hardware mods done. Core went from 560MHz to 660MHz, and Memory from 700MHz to 850MHz. That's an 18% overclock in core speed and 21% increase in Memory speed!"

Also the card is a great card for SLI.
At the price it is at currently you can have around the speed of an x1900 XT for less if you SLI them.

can't wait to get myn :D

as for which one, imo just get the cheapest :)

I looking at 7600gt or a x1800gto to bridge the gap until next year and dx10 2nd gen cards and the new cpu's as i will built a new machine then.
I think the x1800gto can be moded like the x800gto2 cards and if they can might be worth a look.
But i am impressed with 7600gt for the price.

Its amazing whenever someone mentions an ATi card, time and time again you get 'the Nvidia card may be slower, but its fantastic overclocker', funny how they dont mention that the ATi cards are also fantastic overclockers too, wonder why eh. :p

Thanks for your help on this
Havent a clue whats hot and whats not seeing as I wasnt planning an upgrade.
May try and stretch the budget to a 7800, the OCuk Silent one is appealing
Failing that I think it will be the BFG 7600.

Cheers

Dunno every ati card i've owned has modded and clocked well.

Why is it that a certain group of people are constantly trying to get people to buy Nvidia cards, even though in some cases they are not superior?

(From an ATi and Nvidia user!)
