HELP! First time build

Aim for that 7870 I used dude. It's a tahiti core so is closely related to the 7950 and not really a 7870 at all. Give her an overclock and you are trading blows with the more expensive 7950 at stock. If you insist on having an i7 even the 2700K can't be sniffed at, is a little cheaper and you can put that cash into the GPU budget.

Please note the Z77N mini-itx mobo is voltage locked which will limit your max overclock on the CPU. Also note I added the Quiet edition fans I didn't choose the fan options from the drop down menu on the OEM H60

I would recommend you look for a TinyTomLogan youtube video review of a pre-built prodigy, with a 3570K, a 7870XT, SSD, a good m-itx motherboard and a H80i. In fact, I'd just go with that all together!

I can't link to it since it's from a competitor, but given your requirements, it's a no-brainer. Or at least organize your build around those components.

I've mentioned that in another thread as it topped an all AMD rig with the 8350 CPU and a 7970 which is surprising as the 7970 is more expensive being the better GPU.

It would look a little like this.......

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £189.95
1 x VTX3D HD 7870 Black Boost Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £189.95
1 x Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe (Socket 1155/Intel Z77.DDR3/S-ATA 600/Mini ITX) £159.95
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TD120BW) £79.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H80i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1155 / 1150 / LGA1156 / LGA1366 / LGA2011/ AM2 / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £76.99
1 x BitFenix Prodigy 'Yin' Mini-ITX Cube Case - White/Black £69.95
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 600w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020060-UK) £62.99
1 x Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (PV38G160C9K) £49.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £49.99
1 x OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
Total : £959.34 (includes shipping : £10.50).

This mobo has voltage adjustment which is why it's more poppy. The rig Olivier is talking about was clocked to 4.4Ghz. If you use the GB Z77N-Wifi 4.2Ghz would be a max top estimate on the OC depending on the CPU lottery
