Hello Hoping one of you may be able to help me out here.

my card was running perfectly fine yesterday but this morning at around 7am there was a power cut. i tried turning the system back on everything appears to boot up hear window's sounds etc yet i do not get a display to the screen.

the Cables are detected and such but the screen remains black.

i have tried putting the card into my brothers system and i get the same issue. My computer get's a display when using a old gcard i have laying around yet the 6970 fails to display.

i have tried everything i can think off but it is looking like i will need to replace it as the warranty is gone on it Manufactured in 2011/08.

Is there anything else i can try with the card before i make the jump with buying a new card?

Here are some pictures incase i missed something.

Many Thanks

It needs a damn good clean.

Have you tried both DVI ports ? Also have you got a DVI-VGA connector ? Use it on one of the DVI ports and see if it works. My brother had a GTX260 and had a power cut. After that the card would only display if he used a DVI-VGA connector for some reason.

or its knackered.

As above try different outputs if you can also has your card got a dual bios switch? If it has flick the switch and try booting up from the backup bios. Failing that give it a good clean and rma it back to msi. Good job you bought MSI there turnaround isn't to bad and all cards have a 3 year warranty I wouldn't tell them about the power cut though just say you can't get it to display. If msi can't fix it I wonder what they will give you, I doubt they have any 6970 lightings left?

did you clear the motherboards cmos? leave battery out for 10 minutes then put back and try

re seating the card aswell might help, usually a sudden shutdown or crash will corrupt the cmos

Please can you let us know how your rma goes, how easy it was, how much it cost you to send it back and how long the whole process took.

Quick update i have gotten a invoice for my new card that is arriving shortly. which is a Sapphire Radeon R7 265 Dual-X now i am not too sure if that card is on the same performance level as my old MSI 6970 lightening 2gb was.

Could anyone help me out on this as i have some doubts if this new card is at the same performance level as my old one. I know its not no where near as overclockble as my old card either.

Thanks

Karl

think the 265 is about the same or slightly less than a 7850? a 7850 would beat a 6970 easy

it should oc well too
