Help! I don't want to get addicted.

Cigars are less addictive anyway.

Now I have absolutely no problem with you or Scuzi smoking cigars, but uneducated statements like this (and Scuzi's) are just annoying. You say you are accepting the health risks but then you seem to be qualifying that with statements like these in which you belittle the dangers.

Don't kid yourself, is all I'm saying.

That looks sweet, Scuzi!

I haven't ignored you. I agree with what you're saying, but I enjoy it and that's that! :o

I give up - it's like talking to a brick wall.

Just don't expect my support when you post a thread asking for help / compassion / advice for trying to quit in the future.

how much are they?
Cigars? A decent cuban ranges from £10 to £40 a cigar, depending on size, construction, age, brand and exclusivity.

The Romeo Y Julietta Churchill I'm about to tuck into now cost me £19.

Inexperienced, yes. However, I'm still confident I can enjoy them without getting addicted. Time will tell.

They last for ages though. It's probably better value than a pack of fags.

Well this one I'm tucked into at the minute should last for over an hour so it is worth the money for the experince.

An hour!

How much did you say it was?
£19 in Tubos form. My favourite Churchill is the Cohiba Esplendidos but they're £30 a go so only for when I'm feeling flush!

Stupid question but what are Kreteks?
Not a stupid question at all, most people haven't heard of them :)
Kreteks are like cigarettes but they have cloves blended with the tobacco. They are noticeably lighter than normal cigarettes and some brands aren't full of the chemicals that normal cigarettes have. I prefer Djarum Black although I will have some Djarum Special now and again.

I now realize I smoke for simply one reason, and that is spite. I hate you non-smokers with all of my little black ******* heart, you obnoxious, self-righteous, whining little *****, my biggest fear, if I quit smoking, is that I'll become one of you. Now don't take that wrong.

How many non-smokers do we have here tonight? By round of applause, non-smokers. A few of you. Good, 'cause I have something to tell you. I do. I have something to tell you non-smokers, and this is for you and you only, because I know for a fact that you don't know this. And I feel it's my duty to pass on information at all times, so that we can all learn, evolve, and get the **** off this planet. Non-smokers, this is for you and you only, ready?

Non-smokers die every day. Sleep tight.

See, I know you entertain some kind of eternal life fantasy because you do not smoke cigarettes. May I be the first to pop that little ******* bubble of yours, and send you hurtling back to the truth? You're dead too. Have a good evening. And you know what doctors say, "****, if only you smoked, we'd have the technology to help you! It's you people dying from nothing that are screwed." I got all sorts of neat gadgets waiting for me, man. Oxygen tent, iron lung-it's like going to Sharper Image! Major rationalizations. We live in such a weird culture, man.

If you want to enjoy a fine cigar in your bedroom on occasion; do it. What you choose to put into your body is your decision, as long as it doesn't harm anyone else, have a good time and do whatever the hell you like.

I'm not addicted. If I couldn't have another cigar for the rest of my life it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I choose to smoke fine Cuban cigars because I enjoy the taste, just like I enjoy the taste of a fine whiskey. By your reasoning, I'm addicted to whiskey too.

They don't pose the same health risks as cigarettes. There is a risk of mouth cancer for regular smokers and those who smoke in an enclosed environment can suffer the effects of inhaling the smoke.

Don't tell me I'm addicted when I clearly am not. :)

I agree I smoke cigars probably one or maybe two a week. Some weeks I just dont feel like it so dont bother. I smoke cigars because I like the flavours. Smoking cigars is nothing like smoking cigarettes.

Try telling that to all these armchair experts. We're addicted apparently, oh no!

if you have generous friends, just scrounge off them, thats that i did, and i barely spend more than a tenner on smokes my self.

pretty cool huh?

also because i only scrounged my max consumption was limited, and at weekends where i dont do anythng for hollidays it goes down to zero.

Its HEALTHY, it's COOL, and it's BIG

happy smoking :)

I smoked socially through uni, I didn't get addicted. Anyway, the smoking ban has kicked in now, so you won't have the temptation there anymore.

That's interesting actually. Ive been in the states for the last 5 weeks (so I don't know what the effect is in the UK of the ban) but its banned here too and in the majority of bars, I find it more social to go outside with the smokers when they have a cig than to stay inside.
