They are about £11 to buy, probably not worth the hassle/cost of posting it back tbh. And apparently AC's customer support isn't very good.
Its a shop so its going back (with a print-out from TAT), I coughed up £16 nuggets :o Because of all the hassle I have been through I will do my best to follow this up, I have liked Arctic cooling since I owned one of their GPU coolers (9800Pro one?) so clearly I am a bit suspect of them now. Obviously every manufacturer produces the odd 'dud' just a pain that I drew the short straw this time. The quality of manufacture on this Arctic HSF is pretty shoddy, but then again what can u expect for £16.00?

That's what it was like with my AF7, are you running outsde the case at the moment?
Nah in case but with side off (still faffing).

im scared to buy this now, i need reassurance! :o
Dunno what to say really, there are so many people confirming decent results with their AC7-Pro's I can only conclude I got a minger.

Would I buy another AC7-Pro? Hmmm based on whats just happened I probably will shy away from them for the moment (also the fan on the AC7-Pro is just too loud when its at full whack!).

Instead of buying an AC7-Pro I think its worth spending another 5-10 nuggets and getting a Thermalright Ultra-90 (£19.96 inc) + a nice quiet 92mm fan of your choice, thats gotta be the better option?

IDLE/LOAD - e6300/2.8GHz (1.325v/1.275v) - ASUS P5B Deluxe - Thermalright Ultra 120 - Antec 120mm Case Fan - Fairly Quiet!

Up to 2800MHz, still using 1.325vCore, everything seems to be working fine, been doing some memory testing at 400MHz-FSB so can't push on any higher just yet. Had this e6300 up to 3.4GHz before but it would fail dual-prime in about 3 seconds (no matter what the volts) temps were hitting 67°C on the AC7-Pro :o

Hi Big.Wayne could u look at these pictures and tell me if Thermalright Ultra-120 Heatsink would fit in in my case or no ! And which 120 mm Fan would u recommend to me http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=57&subid=4 !

http://img406.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture0569ns.jpg
as u can see in picture Thermalright 120mm would be great purchase for me , since i got quite good air flow in there with my 2x120mm Fans already ,case is TJ06 btw !

http://img406.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture0627hp.jpg In this picture u can see why i am worryed ,there is no much space left :/ , anyways when i look at your pic ,i got a feeling that it shoould realy fit in ,but as i said ,i would like to be sure before i purchase one of these babys!
What are your recommendations,or ideas?

hmmm i was thinking more about how wide it is realy! But now if u say this: I will measure height aswell! I thought maybe the bottom of my case wont let it fit in !

In that case I would get the scythe infinity, same height but can be mounted sideways and have a fan fitted to the side, should have no problem fitting. It is only 6mm wider each side.

Hi vairo,

yeah that looks like u got 'great' airflow, sadly there is not a chance the Ultra-120 will fit in there, it towers above the AC7-Pro.

What you will need to do is 'carefully' measure the distance from mobo to the side panel, when u know that then we can work out whats the best option for you.

When it comes to fans you can spend days discussing the merits of this fan and that fan, I have seen some threads here when the guys are battling with each other to find out which is the best 120mm fan in the world!! lol :D

I normally just use the Akasa fans, seem to do the job and they are pretty quiet actually, however I followed a tip and have tried some new fans from a company called 'Sharkoon', they have a product range called 'Silent Eagle', I've only used the 80mm versions so far but I'm impressed! (they come with sheathed cables and a nice bundle included rubber mounting grommets, bargain!)

I just picked up a 120mm Sharkoon so I will let u know how I get on.

I'm looking to get 4 of these for my Antec P180, not sure if I should get the 1000RPM's or the 2000RPM's.....Any ideas?!

For the record Ive got a E6300 and a AC7 and my idle temps were around 45C and 55C Load at max fan speed. Turned out the NVIDIA drivers for the 8T8 (8800GTS)(Driver 97.21 I thinks) set the fan speed on the card to 59% and never moves. Hence my card was sitting there at 67C boot and above during gaming. This inturn was warming the inside of my case and causing high CPU temps.

Once I set the fan on the GPU to 90%+ the idle temps on the CPU dropped down to 38C still high some would say but this is 400Mhzx7 (2.8Ghz). However everytime I rebooted the dam drivers would reset the fan speed to 59% !!! (Grrr nTune 5.05)

I have x6Case fans all 80mm; x2front, x2rear, x1side, x1top with good airflow so im not convinced my AC7 is as good as I was hoping it would be. Im going to try and add an exhaust fan under the 8T8 to see if this helps lower inside case and GPU temps :) that is until the next driver relase that supports 8T8's.

well i measured it the distannce from mobo to side panel is 17-17.5cm , might fit in eaven 18cm ,but 17cm realy would be the max i would go for ! And if i am not wrong AC7 Pro highest point is about 13.5 or something! Distance from right side of my AC7 to the bottom of the case is 1.8cm (so i cant get very wide cooler aswell i guess ) i will takke more pics tonight or tommorow ,there might be one more probllem ,to consider!

Any ideas so far ? :)

I have been telling folks about Sharkoon's for ages on here but no muppet listens........

The 120 1000 fans are great for near silent case cooling but for flexability (CPU heatsinks etc) I would get the 120 2000 and a Fanmate 2. The 2000 has great flow at full whack but isn't silent. Using the fanmate you can get it to the same noice level as the 1000, so you can play around and get the ideal level you like for the heatsink etc.

The 80 2000 fans are great and flow loads for their size and noise level but again if you are fussy you may want to fanmate these too. Never fanmate a 120 1000 IMO.

I use only 120 1000 fans for case cooling and a 120 1000 + Fanmate where needed for other tasks.
