Considering that this is GD, if someone said they were going to the south of France on holiday, a lot of people would think something about illegal immigrants and cheese eating surrender monkeys.

Yup, SW France on the Basque Coast. The French consider “Southern France or Le Midi” to be the area south of Lyon bordered by the Med, Spain and Italy.

I can see why you say its not in the south of France because the south would be considered as being on the south coast i.e. like Marseille.

I'd say it was more western France.

For us it would be like saying Newquay is in the south of England.
