Sorry to create a new thread but I figured it would get me an answer quicker than leaving a post in my other thread.
I've got a AMD Phenom II 955 and have installed that on the new mobo. I'm about to stick the heatsink on but it's something I've never done before and I really don't want to **** it up. I've spent an hour watching youtube vid's with various methods of application of thermal compound (I've got some MX-3) and am happy with that part.
The part I'm concerned about is that the heatsink seems to have some sort of thermal compound already applied - the stock stuff I presume. Do I need to remove this or is it okay to go on top of the MX-3 that I'm about to apply to the CPU?
