I have some land 6184 x 6066 x 5938 x 5573 yards.
I cannot for the life of me recall how to work out the area in acres, my results are a bit silly to say the least, considering the last time I done area math was 25 years a go- i need a little help please peeps.:(

If you was to think of the sizes as a box shape in respective. or a bit of cloth cut to that size.
But worked out to the nearest acre, help I need guys Not the pee take please.
Tis a real question here.

Thanks

I have been made an offer per acre you see and want to know the score.

What? What shape is your land?

To calculate the area of a trapezium, divide it into a rectangle and two triangles. Now, piece together the triangular ends so that the trapezium is divided into a triangle and rectangle.

Area of trapezium = Area of Rectangle + Area of triangle

It's trapezium shaped.
If we start at the left had bottom a = 6184 yards b right hand bottom b = 6066
top left is c 5573 yards and top right is d 5938 yards
I am not being very clear here am I.

How exact do you need it? It's about 12.25 square miles which is just under 8k acres :p

6000 yards is 3.5 miles roughly, that's a big-ass piece of land, lol

Averaging out the two verticals and two horizontals to make a square it would be 7,290 acres. As stated above a very large area!

How can you calculate that from the info given?

Anyway I smell fish.

Lets assume it is roughly rectangular and not a very thin diamond shape, then yes indeed it will be about 35,252,437 square yards or about 7283 acres.

However, if you did indeed own 7823 acres you will have it registered with the Land Registry and that will state exact areas. If arable, then doubtful it will be one field but whether one or many, each field has been digitally calculated a few years ago and is on public record. Just apply using your field numbers and OS grid reference and they will supply a digital map with areas completed.

And any arable field owner who has not been claiming from the RPA on over 7000 acres needs to see a shrink. Roughly, depending on what use the land is, you have been failing to claim about £700,000 per annum in grants for about the last 6 years.

And if selling, you will have to find this out at some point.
