Help locating EGR valve

My dad's Ford C-max is having a few problems with the car losing power, he's had a google and it looks like a common problem with the egr valve.
He's bought some egr cleaner as a long shot fix before getting a new one fitted however we're struggling to locate it.
We think we can't see it as it's at the back of the engine, has anyone any ideas?
Cheers.

Follow the shiny pipe coming out of the righthand side of the inlet manifold that runs close to the oil filler...
:)

You'll have to get it on a ramp, I'm lucky my 2004 Mondeo has it at the front so I can just take it out to clean.

Don't bother buying a new one, clean it out and then get a blanking plate for it.

From the Haynes Manual:

1 Disconnect Battery
2 Remove the plastic cover from the top of the engine (where fitted) by pulling it upwards at the right-hand and front edges, then pull it forwards
3 Remove the wiper arms then undo the 2 bolts and move the remote brake fluid reservoir (where fitted) to one side
4 Undo the EGR pipe support bracket retaining nut (at point B in picture)
5 Release the clamp securing the EGR pipe to the inlet manifold and the 2 bolts securing the pipe to the EGR valve
6 Disconnect the wiring plug from the EGR valve
7 Undo the bolts securing the EGR cooler to the valve
8 Slacken the EGR valve lower retaining bolt
9 Undo the 2 remaining bolts and remove the valve.
(Note if a new valve is fitted, the base setting must be programmed using Ford diagnostic equipment)

Point B is the EGR Valve.

Hope this helps :)

I'm about to clean mine. Lucky for me it's at the top of the engine at the back which makes it really easy to get too... good luck with yours :)

Point B is the EGR valve?, where are all the bolts, and the wiring?.

will that just cause the ecu to register an error and throw up loads of warning lights all over the dash??
No idea.
I had mine blocked off the other week when it was in for some new pipes.
No idea if they cleaned it first.. Either way, no problems here. And I think my MPG has improved too!

Why clean it if you blank it off?

I was told that you should clean it as you can get into the inlet manifold and clean that too whilst you have the valve off.

edit/ some EGR valves can just be blanked off without worrying about warning lights but others have an electrical connection that needs something doing to it, can't remember what, might just need to be terminated.

Thanks for the advice so far, still not sure were it is though, up A or down B?

I don't want to take the valve off just spray in the pipe leading to the valve.
Could I remove the pipe at B on my diagram and spray inside to reach the valve?
Cheers
