I've read the thread top to bottom and have a few opinions myself,

I think its probably right to get the 80gb intel drive with a mount kit for £200 off ocuk but am I over looking a steal of a deal for less? ie 2 patriots in raid?

I'll be using the full space with the 20% margin left free (does that need to be done on ssd??) so 80gb would be a useful size for win7 + adobe creative suite and cinema4d

I currently have a 150gb raptor that will be for all my less used programs and user area.

sound like a good plan?

Well I have an Intel SSD. Just bought it very fast and nice.

There are also the Kingston SSDs that are worth thinking about. Very good reviews that I've seen.

Other than that a good plan.

I wouldn't say that the length of the sata cable makes a difference.:)

thanks for the replies, i know threads like this are somewhat annoying when everyone is asking very similar questions but I always like to know 100% before going ahead!

£200 will do for me, I dont use my computer much as most of my time is spent at work but when I do im sure ill appreciate the load speeds,

Thanks for info on the sata cable, I thought it could be a bit of a fib / myth that a shorter one would be better

Intel it is :)

Thanks again

Ive got Samsung ones, not sure how these compare to Kingston etc but they work well for me, plus they were cheap when i bought them.

You do have to watch out on the detail of some drives like the Kingston, the better one is the V+ series from what i have read!

Some retailers seem to have a cheap price but its often not a V+ series one just a V series!

would it be more beneficial to buy 2 64gb v+ kingston ssds and have 1 with apps on and the other with the op system on than it would be to buy 1x 128gb ssd with it all on?

as it works out the same price and im not feeling raid because it loses some importiant features

I'm in the same boat as you alexx,.. and i've read up a lot over the months and still can't decide if I should spend the extra money on the Intel X25-M.
I was looking at the V+, or raiding two Patriots.. but I can say that if you raid -0 any of the SSDs, you can't use TRIM. That's put me off buying two smaller ones ( maybe even the vertex ).

The Intel is a lot more expensive than some of the others, about £40. I'm looking for a 64-80GB drive around £160. I really cannot decide between them but the V+ seems to have some good reviews... but then looking at the Intel, nobody has anything at all to say bad about them,.. not one bad review,... anywhere!

The reactor and nova looked good until I read some of the reviews.

So far my short list is:
OCZ vertex 64gb £169
Intel x25-m 80GB £192.
Kingston V+ 64GB £150

I would like to think the kingston is as good as the rest... but is it?

Identical thoughts mate,

I think the best bet if money wasnt an object would be to spend it on two v+ drives
but im thinking that I can probably do with 1 80gb ssd and going with my gut feeling the Intel would take it with a mounting kit its £200.

In 6 months time they'll probably be about £60 quid cheaper anyway, just wondering if im missing the point as sata3 is close by isnt it?

I've been researching this for a couple of days now

It seems the Crucial M225 128GB is the one to go for on bang for buck terms. They can be picked up for as little as £250.
