help me find the fault plz

You could try using a HDMI to VGA adapter, HDMI plugged into the card which has a VGA connection on the other end to plug into the monitor.

The exact same. I probably could try a hdmi to VGA. Currently don't have one tho. Would have to find one somewhere

Btw thanks for the patience from you lot. Didn't think I'd get this much help

a bit strange how its stopped working, does the card get power and fans spin up when your turn the PC on but just no display?

is there any other ports on the card you could try at all as most cards normally have 1 than one output

The card powers with both fans spinning, all system and CPU fans work, the HDD and dvdrw work. It's just not displaying on screen. The screen doesn't say no input signal, just says power saving mode and then goes to standby.

There are 2 dvi connections but can only use the white one as that's what the adapters for. 1 hdmi and the other connection looks a bit like a sata connection

so the monitor is getting no signal or its a faulty port on the card.

do you have a TV or other monitor with a VGA connection on at all to rule out the monitor?

are you able to use a different display port at all? most TV's these days have HDMI ports so if you have a HDMI cable you can connect the PC to that instead?

if you don't have a HDMI cable to hand and you have sky or virgin setup that uses HDMI to connect to the TV you can connect it to your PC instead of the sky\virgin box and see if that gives you any signal

I've connected the pc to a tv with VGA but no hdmi on it and the monitor. I hooked a laptop to the monitor and it worked. I don't have any hd screens to try the hdmi port but as vesper stated, I could try An adapter from hdmi to vga. I've just gotta try and find one.

The monitor that keeps going into power saving mode is the same monitor I've used with this build for a few months.

Ok this may be a silly question but could it be anything to do with cable management? This case has management but the other case didn't. Could the spare Molex, sata etc have an eeffect when touching theccase? They are stashed behind the mobo

ok, so trying a laptop on the monitor has ruled out the monitor or monitor port being faulty so it has to be something to do with the GPU or the port that is being used on the GPU.

cable management shouldn't be a issue, I have unused connections in my case just sitting below my CD drive and I have no issues.

as we cant change the port being used on the GPU do you have a old GPU laying about at all before you upgraded to your 270? could always give that a try( that's if you upgraded to a 270x and had a card before)

They shouldn't really have much of an effect, but if they're not in use and you can remove them I would do so as they're not required.

Try and find an adapter, you can get them from most electronics stores or online and they're not too expensive.

If that doesn't work, then it could be a fault with the GPU that occurred during the transfer

No I don't have another gpu. So if I get an adapter and it doesn't work and if if I get another gpu to try then that works, the problem is the gpu im guessing.

Hopefully if this is the case I think I have warranty on the card so not to bad. I'll see what I can do and I'll post back. Thanks again for the help guys

if you get another GPU and it works then its the GPU with the issue.

if you get a adapter and it works on the current GPU then its the port at fault, if it doesn't then its the GPU with the issue.

hope you get it sorted :)

You might need to clear cmos.
When you removed the GPU could bios have reverted back to onboard display, meaning you would have to change setting in Bios to display via GPU ?

Something similar happened when I added a card to xfire with my APU.

woops !

""1 major thing about this motherboard is that it has no onboard VGA/hdmi connection. A gfx card must be used so I can't even view the bios. Has anyone got any ideas that I could try before I go pay £40 for someone to tell me whats wrong lol""

probably should have read it all first !

Hi all. It's working.g now. The GPU was fine and the rest of the hardware is good. The problem was with the motherboard stand offs. I forgot to take 1 out and it was on the board. My partner did remind me aswell but I didn't listen lol. Luckily the board has something to prevent shorting :D

Anyway thanks for trying to help me solve it
