help me replace mcafee

hi can anybody help me, I've got mcafee anti virus, firewall and spam killer installed on my pc but am thinking bout replacing them, my pc takes ages to boot up i'm using xp pro.

I use Thunderbird for my email. Hardly any spam gets though and any that does (2 or 3 since I started using TB 0.7 I think it was) you can simply flag as spam and then TB should learn from that.

I use NOD32 in conjunction with ZoneAlarm Pro.

How do you know it's Mcafee causing your computer to slowly boot? Could it be anything else?

If you really want to change I'll suggest antivir, AVG or NOD32 (first 2 are free)

Firewall I would use Zone Alarm or Windows SP2's firewall.

Try uninstalling it then, see if the problem still persists. Did the problem begin/develop when you first installed Mcafee?

i just removed it and seems a bit quicker

Kaspersky + Sygate, you can't go wrong with that set up.

Add Nod32 in there and thats pretty much what I run. Haven't installed Spywareblaster this time round yet.

maybe nod32 if i'm doing anything dodgy, only ever had 1 warning on my own pc tho..

another good one to have is windows defender (its free too), turn off the real-time file scanning and set a daily/weekly scan instead, pc will work better with the real-time scanning off
