as per subject, what does a .gif do

It is clearly 1000x (the number of frames in the gif) words. Neither loud or quiet. There is no action, simply a series of pictures.

Why would it add more volume? The actions are louder than the words so the words must be quiter than the action.

Quieter, yes. Not quiet. There's no reason to believe that because something else is louder that the original volume is in any way diminished. It's a very strange assertion with no basis in logic.
 
I pondered for a while, but finally came to the conclusion that 'Ban' was the only correct answer.
 
The better question to ask is how do people pronounce it. Everyone seems to say gif with a 'g', but I'm sure I recall reading the creator pronounces it/intended it to be pronounced gif with a 'j'... like jif.

I seem to recall the same thing but jif is for cleaning and gif is an image, so I still say gif not jif and anyone doing differently is silly.

It's like saying jilly instead of Gilly :rolleyes:
