Scotty... Boot from the live CD again. When It's up and running go into
System/Administration/Partition Manager.
(give me some leeway here, it might not be EXACTLY as I state... Partition Manager only lives on the Live CD so I cant "dummy run" it on my active system)
From within Partition Manager select the new drive or any drive you want formatting. There is an option there for what filesystem you want on it.
Select NTFS
Click APPLY
Theoretically..... Robert will be your Fathers Brother. If it does it Ok.. Then it has to be a borked windows CD

Ok.. I just installed GpartEd. I believe this is the manager used by the installer. looking in my system menu its not called Partition Manager its Partition Editor
Just looky at THIS Screengrab to see what I'm piffling on about.
The NTFS option is ghosted on my screeny coz its already formatted to NTFS
