Help needed - computer keeps shutting down unexpectedly

A bunch of stuff to consider:

When did you build this pc / how long was it fine for?
Have you made any recent changes, hardware or software?
What are your CPU temps?
Is your aio pump pumping?
What ram do you have? Can you test it? Memtest / try individual sticks?
What storage do you have? Can you check crystaldiskinfo/crystaldiskmark?
Can you rule out the GPU by using the CPUs graphics?
Do you have the latest bios installed?

So I’ve unplugged all USB apart from the mouse, with no joy stayed in for about an hour and now off again.

I built the PC in January and haven’t changed any components at all. I have checked all cables are correctly installed and made sure the PSU fan was working correctly which it is.

I’ll test ram sticks now by using one and then the other.

I’ve not updated the bios and to be honest I’m not sure how so I’ll have to watch a video.

I’ll download the stuff to tests the storage drives.

I haven’t tried without the GPU, do I simply just unplug it and it will automatically use the AMD cpu graphics or do I need to change settings first before I unplug?

Thanks

just unplug and remove the gpu, the system should detect no gpu and use the integrated graphics

So, I've now had it on for close to 4 hours with no issues. Currently the GPU is unplugged, one RAM stick and also only using 1 monitor (as Motherboard only has 1 HDMI output) so I guess it's going to GPU which would be a bummer as I can't afford a new one, but I'll chuck it back in and see what happens

If you have a stable configuration that's an opportunity to update bios which might make other configurations stable. Just make triple sure it's a stable configuration first.

it seems stable, but to be on the safe side I'll not do anything for a few more hours, maybe even until tomorrow and just leave the PC on so I can be confident it's not going to happen again

if it remains stable without the gpu in-situ then there are 3 things that can still be the problem:

1) gpu
2) mobo
3) psu

So, the computer was on and running fine for over 24 hours. No random shut offs etc. I have put the GPU back in, and within 2 hours it had shut itself down, wouldn't start up again until I've flicked the switch off on the PSU, waited for about 30 seconds and then flicked it back on. When I turned it back on, i was greeted with a "bitlocker" screen, where I had to input a code from Microsoft to get access to the computer again. Would the next step just be changing out components? Is there a way I can check if my PSU is strong enough to be running the system? I assume a 1000w would be, but I guess it's worth checking now.

1kw should be more than sufficient to run that system as long as the psu is not faulty.
I would rma the gpu in the first instance, because on balance of probability, the gpu is the culprit rather than the psu.

Unfortunately the GPU is the only part that wasn’t new in the system, I’ve had that for a few years so an RMA won’t happen - I’ve been after an upgrade so maybe it’s time to bite the bullet and do it

Unless you can get a 9070xt closer to £600, it ain't worth it. Better to pony up the £30 or so extra to get the 5070ti instead.

The reviews were based on a fake MSRP of £560 for the 9070XT.
Welcome to the spin machine lol
