help needed for oc on p8z68v-pro/2500k

am looking for someone who has got much the same set up as me to help us oc to least 4.6 on manual oc if they can pass on a template.
i have tried some template's oc over some forums but all seem to be ok for a while. the most oc i have oc is 4.7, ran prime for over 10,12,14 hrs all passed
also used intelburn on max and yet again passed. temps recording at the most highest was 73 on one core.these settings was on 100.0@47 giving me the 4.7 oc. but the problem always start when turning the pc on from cold the following morning i get bsod's and as alway's i had to revert back to stock speed to get into windows,sometimes i have to do system restore's
[email protected] seem to me as ok at 1.33.
not sure if it's ram,cpu,or the motherboard that's causing this problem.
the pc runs ok on asus ai suite auto clock @4.3 but am not happy using asus
bclk freg at 103.0.
anyone got any idea's or a good template settings

It probably needs more volts if it's not booting from cold. 4.7ghz and 1.33v would mean you have a VERY good chip, try setting it to 1.35 to see if it makes a difference.
 
Yeah the P67 and Z68 bios is pretty much identical. But as said some chips are good, some chips are not so good, its luck of the draw really.

Example, I need 1.312v for stable 4.8, leeroy on here needs somewhere in the region of 1.46v to be stable at 4.8, albeit on 2600k chips for both of us.

I think I have screens from my 4.8 somewhere, if I find them I'll post them up. Just remember not to copy my voltages/offset, this you need to figure out for your self and whats best for your chip.
 
When I got my 2500k the bclk came at 103 for some reason.

Changed that to 100 and multiplier to 45 with my Core voltage set to 1.35

Haven't a single problem with this OC and the temps are great too - rarely past 60C

if not any chance of posting your bios settings,that will give me something to work on

eep I totally forgot about this thread, I'll shove up my bios settings tomorrow morning/early afternoon for you too.
 
My bios settings for 4.6ghz

CPU Ratio: 46
BCLK: 100
PLL Overvoltage: Disabled
Memory Freq: 1600

LLC: Ultra High
VRM Frequency: Manual 300
Phase Control: Extreme
Duty Control: Extreme
CPU Current: 100%

CPU Voltage: Offset
Offset mode: -
Offset volt: 0.04v
DRAM Voltage: 1.50625v
VCCIO: 1.060V
PLL: 1.80625v
PCH: Auto

CPU Spread Spectrum if off.

And the rest on auto and this is stable on Linx for 20 runs. The vcore never goes above 1.35v.
 
If it would help I'll put up screens from my 4.8 setup, just adjust mp and vcore/offset accordingly, remember all chips are different, some need higher voltages than others.

would be great if you could stick up screen shot's as this would help us a lot and many more other's that is new to oc with the same set up.

No problem, just going to grab some food and I'll put some up, fairly sure I have screens of all the essentials (voltages, c states etc..).

You might want to set your voltage to auto to begin with, see what auto gives, then work back from there, can be a long way around doing things but at least you know what voltages give stable. And obviously if your on a 2500k ignore any HT settings.

Edit here are the screens, only change I have to that at the moment is offset is -0.060 rather than +0.060, using bios v0401.

You can use 1.5v on 1.65v ram, without problems. Pgi, why do you have EPU enabled and you have the c state c1e on? i have mine disabled and EPU off, was sure thats what your meant to do isnt it? Also you have the current capability on 120 percent. ove not tried that. Any benefits?

I read that EPU wont really do anything to an overclock, so either disable it or leave it auto, I also can't remember where but I read that disabling all cstates apart from C1e will give a stable-er OC?
 
ok mate sound, ill have a mess about with them. Im back down to 4.8myself but having to use 1.46v. Must have a bad chip. I had it on 5ghz but ive come down to try a little to keep the volts down. It's difficult though when the chip doesnt wanna stay low.

thanks mate so far ok the only thing i have changed is by all cores @ 4.6
for now and things seem to be [email protected] max.temp 69 max
my memory is set @1.6
and prime for 9hrs so far ok. and then am going to jump up to 4.7 and see what happens.

but i want to ask a noob question concerning ssd port.
am a bit confused to which sata port i should have cornected my ssd drive
should it be the grey port or the navy blue port.
at the moment i have cornected it to the navy blue is that correct?
as both ports support 6.0gbs but one is intel and the other is marvall.

don't all laugh at me for asking:o
 
Quite ironically I've just this hour picked up my first SSD, I'm told the white sockets for sata 6gb/s, but I will double check before I install it, so I'll get back to you at some point today but if you have the manual for the board handy it should tell you in there.

What did you put in for your voltage settings? offset/manual and auto or user defined?

Edit there are two sata III controllers, one by intel one thats marvell, the intel controller is the grey sockets, the marvell ones are navy blue, while the 4 (2 blocks of 2) sata II connectors are blue in colour, I'm going to go for the grey sockets (intel).
