Don't think I'm going to need the switch box at all now that the sky router is downstairs, I've plugged the TV into the router directly, so all good

Have you tried a different DNS server? Were you using the default one before?

so far so good

What i do not understand is when i log into my netgear app that connects to my upstairs router

the only thing that is connected to the netgear 1) my PC via wired, 2) my phone via wireless and 3) it connects to internet (as an AP to the sky router)

but checking the devices connected it says :


Wired

my PC
office PC
Sky
photo frame (but this is wireless there is no cable)
2nd computer (but this is wireless there is no cable as i unplugged the homeplugs)
Mobile phone


Wireless
