Internet is now crap and slow, please read on...

When we are on Plusnet the configuration was as follows:

Router upstairs in my room

My PC is connected via wire

i have another wired cable heading downstairs "outside" into the office downstairs

I also have another PC connected to my router, but this is via the electrical socket via some Tp-link Home plugs (i didn't buy this)

we also have yet another TP-link Home plug connected (via electrical socket) in the living room for the SKY / TV

CURRENT CONFIGURATION IS AS FOLLOWS:

We now have been switched over to Sky broadband

So what someone has done whilst I was at work, is connect the Sky Router into the phone socket DOWNSTAIRS

Unplugged the cable that went into the back of the office PC downstairs that was connected to the router upstairs

So now the office computer is now connected into the SKY router and the rest is still the same above

Now my PC upstairs is so slow that websites don’t load sometimes (ocuk forums seems unaffected?)

What can I do ?

I would like to take the sky router out personally, but that’s not an option at this time

What I’m thinking:

Plug in a cable that goes up stairs into the sky router

Reconfigure the Nettgear router to talk to the sky router better

And then I can move the home plugs to the sky router away from my netgear upstairs

I don’t understand how it is all working (even barely)

Basically I am seeing one phone line downstairs, Sky router is plugged into that, 1 PC is connected to it

2nd phone line upstairs connects to my netgear router that is connected to my PC and also connects to 1 home plug (with a 3rd home plug connected to sky)

diagrams would help ?

so what can I do ?

Thanks

Not sure why your netgear router is plugged into an upstairs phoneline? Not that it should make any difference

Looks like your router is connected via homeplug to downstairs? but where does either of the downstairs homeplug units connect back to the router?

Ideally you want your router to be set into access point only mode if possible, if not it needs replacing with a wireless access point/range extender that has multiple ethernet ports (or a separate gigabit switch and access point).

there is a homeplug connected to it, thats for my dad in the 2nd room to get emails and the like on his PC

Is this network cable still there? It's just unplugged? It's still there than this is what you should do.

Plug out the draytek modem from the back of Wifi 6 router. Plug out the homeplug too.

Plug the "outside" cable into the Sky router at one end and into an ethernet port on your Wifi 6 router upstairs.

Go into the setup of the Wifi 6 router and set it up in access point mode.

right , gotcha

that sounds like a good plan

so what do we do with the home plug that's connect to another pc and sky TV? oh, yeah i bought a switch box for this ready to plug into the sky router , yeah ??
