Help needed with 160gb Spinpoint

I recently purchased a whole new setup, spec below, my only problem has been the spinpoint. i have that, a 160gb Seagate hdd and a 160gb Hitachi laptop hdd all plugged in. Now the problem first started roughly 3 weeks or a bit less after purchase, the entire system would take a very long time to load. The spinpoint was being used as the main hdd with the os on, it eventually got to the stage of it randomly freezing, i decided to reformat.

After reformatting, still using the spinpoint as the os hdd i go to the point of installing my usuall programs and then had to reboot for the first time after os install. It didn't boot. It froze at the abit logo, or just after will trying to detect ide drives ? . I tried using all the different power and data cable combinations to check for cable damage or anything. Anyway after a lot of messing i finally got my pc working again but with out the spinpoint plugged in.

I RMA'd the hdd and have just received it back today, it still doesn't work. Boots but isn't detected by mobo

So is the problem else where ? Any ideas ?

Samsung SpinPoint S 160GB
Antec NSK 6580 Super Midi Tower Case
430W Earth Watts PSU

Also an old Sata Seagate 160gb hdd and a 160gb Hitachi laptop hdd.

Does it appear in the BIOS or Disk Management?

Have you run the Samsung HDD diagnostic tool?
