Help needed with a VAC banning

My mate has used cheats for fun for the last 3 years on Day of Defeat. VAC only scans the Hard Drive which Steam is installed on. So if you have two hard drives, install the cheats on the hard drive without Steam on.

I however dont recommend using cheats as it isnt funny.

Nor do I care if they charge him £200 for a copy. Too may idiots have ruined the game with their inccessant cheating. As far as I'm concerned they should ban any cheater for life, if they find a way to do so.

I always thought, that VAC banning, means that you cannot install a new game/account, and the only way to get another one, is to reinstall your OS ?

With punkbuster if the cheating was serious enough, you got a hardware ban.
I think they made a serial key from all your hardware components so you had to buy new parts to play again.

The IP isn't banned whoever mentioned that nor is the MAC address for that matter either. It's the steam ID/account itself banned from VAC servers.

Cheating is plain wrong even if it is a video game. Make sure your son doesn't differentiate between cheating and getting caught cheating as they are both just as wrong.
I'm not hear to lecture anybody so I will answer your question. ebay.com is the best place for cheap "second hand" steam accounts. As if something digitally distributed can be "second hand".

So, very easy to bypass. I'd certainly not want a program that kicks me from games because I use netlimiter. Since all the pro cheaters use their own private undetactable hacks, it isn't going to stop them either, so as usual the normal consumer loses again.

My 9 yr old son has just started playing online games. Unfortunately he is extremely competitive & has the personality type to cheat imo. Hope I'm wrong. I've told him if I ever see him or hear about him cheating on a server I will permanently remove the CAT6 cable I recently plumbed into his bedroom.

Can i just say that he's just a kid who got curious and not a serious cheat (if he was he would not have been caught!). Anyway his punishment for this curiosity was to buy a new steam account at a cost of £52 to himself. Needless to say he won't be doing it again.

Thanks for you help guys and btw he's 11 and as been in several clans and would probbably own most of us without cheats!

Next time he feels like using hax point him in the direction of a non-secure server.

OT, maybe. But my account got banned due to being hijacked. Valve unbanned the account after they gave me a new password.

I would advise him to change his game name also. I am a dod 1.3 admin and if I knew him to be banned for cheat use on any server I would ban him from my server without hesitation.

Seriously guys. There is nothing worse than enjoying a nice cup of CS early in the morning and have some hacker ruin it, and for everyone else on the server. Valve do have a point with this VAC stuff. It's only a shame it didn't work more often. Then we'd have a 'h4x0r fr33 g4m3' or however they say it.
